I was a photographer long before I was a painter. One of my favorite creative activities is to take old photographs and re-imagine them with the tools in Photoshop. This is the result of some play with an image I took at the Louisville Zoo decades ago, so long ago that I was still using film. Still, these results are easily as satisfying as completed paintings.
