The TimmonsArt Newsletter (February 2026)

Even though some of our daffodils have poked through the soil, this winter is dragging on and on. I suffer from Seasonal Affective Disorder (if that's still a thing), but I've been working a lot, and the two large lamps, equipped with daylight bulbs, focused on my easel help enormously. There are lots of Bluebirds flitting around the suet feeder, and that blue never fails to knock me out.

Work for Solo Show
I had hoped to finish all the work for my August show by the end of this month, but it looks like I'll be one painting short of my goal, which is 18 canvases. Here are the newest . . .

Masked: 53  oil on canvas, 30x30"

Non-traditional Portraiture
I'm exploring commissions for portraits in my geometric technique, and I've been experimenting with pictures of real people. Here's one, yet unpainted, that I've developed and am happy with . . .

I plan to offer at least two digital mockups of the abstracted image, and the portraits will be available in three sizes. You can read more here.

Detour
I took a bit of a subject matter detour this month . . . I've painted geometric horses, but usually the whole body and always in grisaille (for some reason). I wondered how focusing on the head and in a riot of color would turn out, and here is my first attempt:

Geometric Horse No. 1   oil on canvas, 24x24"

It didn't photograph as well as I hoped. Some of the areas reading as black are actually dark blue. I worked with the image a long time, trying to get those blue areas to pop, but finally gave up. This canvas will be headed to KORE Gallery early next month.

Thanks for reading!
